Got sent a rental agreement as a PDF and there's a typo in my own name on it (landlord's office scanned... no wait, typed it out wrong in Word first, then exported). Anyway I just need to fix one line of text and resend it.
Opened it in Adobe and it wants me to start a subscription just to type in a text box. For one line. Tried the "open PDF in Word" trick too — formatting fell apart, table shifted, took longer to fix than it would've to just retype the page.
Is there an actual way to edit PDF text directly without installing anything or paying? Feels like this should be a solved problem by now.

It's text-based, I can select and copy from it fine. Just one line is wrong (my name got merged with the previous word somehow). Simple one-page agreement, nothing fancy.
Depends on whether it's a real text PDF or a scanned image pretending to be one. If someone scanned a paper and saved it as PDF, no editor is going to let you click into the text — it's just a picture. You'd need OCR first.
If it's actually text (you can highlight/select words in it), that's way easier. Which one is yours?
